Leveling

Postby Amedina on Fri Jul 30, 2010 12:24 pm

I'm trying to level an alt before Cataclysm hits -- one or two more looks at the old world, since I only did the whole thing once.

But, I get stuck, because leveling my main sometimes felt like a slow and painful process, because I was also learning to play the game. My previous computer gaming experience was on the level of "Tetris." :-) I have noticed that it is considerably easier this time around, because of changes in the game that make it easier to level, and because I understand the game a lot better than I did...Maren should have gotten the title "The Patient" for free, trust me! ;-)

I now have a level 20 shadow priest with a sparkle pony, and a nice set of heirloom gear. Can any of you who have tons of alts give me advice on leveling?

All I know is that with the increases in XP and all that they've given over the years, you end up skipping zones to level now unlike back in vanilla.. so if you want to see "everything" ya probably want to keep that in mind.

do you want to see stuff or level as fast as possible?

To level as fast as possible, I highly recommend quest helper addon. It shows you where to go for each quest. Then skip all annoying quests that make you go to a bunch of different zones. This is not an issue in outlands or nothrend. skip all instances and skip all elite quests. This will get you to 80 asap. also i think there are 2 heirloom pieces that give 10% exp bonus each. use them at all times even if something better drops.

I have no desire to level anyone else until Cataclysm. Then i will be leveling a goblin mage, checking out all the new areas.
