They're in the home stretch for crowdfunding the reboot of the old Wing Commander series and it's looking amazing so far. If old time space sims are your thing, I'd recommend hopping over to the Star Citizen site and making your pledge. :)

I looked at the Freelancer specs today; that ship looks awesome.

Has anybody else pledged for this game besides Khall, Trayin, Garg and Schad? I'd love to put together some sort of guild once it finally releases.

Supposedly at 100$ you get a free ship out of it.

I ended up paying 150$ so I will wait and see what I get for it. There a release date yet?

You get a free ship regardless of your pledge amount. The more you pledged; the bigger the ship. I'd recommend going to the site and checking your account to make sure everything is in order; you can also see which rewards you're eligible for from there. Advice goes double if you pledged on the kickstarter site and not directly via robertsspaceindustries.com

No release date yet. We're still looking at probably 18 months - 2 years for the final product but they're saying the hangar module (check out all your ships interior/exterior) should be available later this summer and a basic dogfighting module before the end of the year.

If you're interested in this game but haven't yet pledged, next week is the deadline for getting all the cool bonus perks. The new website goes live at Noon today (6/28) followed by a 24 hour livestream from HQ. I suspect they'll have multiple promotions going on during that time.

If you do pledge, I'd love it if you gave me credit as the referrer. :)

The first code release for Star Citizen, the Hangar module, has its official reveal this Saturday from Gamescom. Should be available for download one week for today, 8/29. :woot:

They released another in-game video of one of the planetside areas. Still early pre-pre-pre alpha, but I think things are coming along. With the hangar release last week, the next piece is the dogfighting module, expected roughly end of 2013.

Waiting to see the dogfighting myself before my interest is actually peaked at all. Pretty ships are nice but smooth space combat is what I'm waiting to see. And explosions ...

Star Citizen 2.0, the first chunk of the persistent universe is expected soon(tm). This will provide one full system to explore and fight in and will be the first implementation of the multi-crew ships (which is my personal favorite).
