Neptune's Pride

Saw this linked elsewhere and it looks intriguing. It appears to be a real-time, browser based "Master of Orion" styled game. I'll take a closer look this evening when I have some time, in the hopes that we could get a game or two running. :)

I have been playing a game for a while. Interesting. But I started in the middle, so I will get my ass kicked from both sides soon. But nevertheless quite entertaining. Slightly too expensive if you want to sign up a couple of friends for a casual game (if you don't want to play the free game though) $20/person is $100 to start. I think they should have allowed one person to "gift" games to friends or something.

Free game is what I am trying at the moment.

You can now have one person buy credits for $20 and start a game which multiple can play. It comes to about $5/game that last for about 3 weeks. So say $5/month for one game running all the time. Compared to WoW monthly fees I suppose that isn't bad if you have 5-8 friends join up. Not as immersive, but easier to play casually.

I'm trying to round up enough interest to justify paying the initial $20. If anybody is interested in participating, please let me know. Looks like we could go as high as 12 players.

Finished a match with the minions a couple weeks back and we're ready to go again. I paid for a hosted game, so it's free to play. It requires about 10 minutes of your time daily, but rewards checking in several times a day once things really get going. If anyone is interested, please post here or send me a PM and I'll send you a game invite.

Sweet, guys. I just created the universe. The game uses a google login for your account, so if you have one already, you're all set. If not, it's free to set up. Once you're logged in, go here to join:

I don't think we'll start before then. Even if we do, though, the first few days are pretty slow while you build up your tech upgrades. :)

There are only 4 slots left available for this. I'm intending to start the game on Saturday afternoon, so if you want to participate (and you really should!), please sign up before then.

Fulton & Pad,

You two are giving Memdahl fits. I'm pretty sure he never forgets. Oh, and sorry about destroying your planets. You see, we really don't want to destroy you, we want you living so we can lay our eggs in you. Its really nothing personal. Samadhi on the other hand just wants to make parking garages out of your planets and charge you $20 bucks a day. The choice is obvious. Come to daddy!

Best I can figure, I'm surrounded by the French. Here I am, offering to help anyone that wants take on the Axis of Evil since I know they are the ultimate threat, even though I didn't share a border with either one. Instead, three other groups ally against me, with the sole purpose of helping to make it easy for Benito Mussolini's bug-eye cousin to take all of you down.

So I've resorted to what I am now calling the "Death Star" defense, collecting my fleet of 800 ships on a single planet. I figure this way, worst case, one of you needs to decide to truly destroy yourself against me, or at the very least damage yourselves immensely.

I'd say the game will be done in 2 or 3 days tops. I'll put my money on Sam at this point. Mem, I think you should take your grievances and your 800 ships north east at Pad and just talk it out.

I've been running for a week, taking my 150 ships with me, but the last few days, Exflex has been right on my tail and arriving to stars quicker than I and taking me out. I should be dead by the end of today.

Masterfully played, sir. (You rat bastard! ;) )

Immediately after posting this, Flex launched a massive attack on my systems. I'm doing what I can to keep him from taking everything, but he's within 10 planets of victory as I type this and only a huge, coordinated effort will prevent this game from ending before payday today. If you have ships and crews, I urge you to find the nearest yellow planet and bomb it into the stone age. Flex's treachery can not be allowed to stand.

And I would have gotten away with it to if it wasn't for you meddling kids. My condolences to you Fulton as your insect comment really stung me and I felt the need to squish you like a bug, er, human. Of course you all realize that while you waste your measly troops on temporarily slowing me down, someone else is stealing your honey.

well, I tried to form an alliance, but my intelligence officers told me that Mem and Pad kept fighting each other. In my opinion the game was over for me at that point, so rather turtle and wait for the inevitable, i decided to go out in a blaze of glory. Attacking Flex was suicide so attacking Mem seemed to be the most fun. I had no particular allegience to Flex or Sam, so felt no need to help either win.

Tomaryn, that alliance would have been the only way to have had any chance. With that said, its always fun to see Mem get spanked a bit. Of course, he has taken back some of his planets back from me but I think I've hid enough larvae on his planets to take them back soon. Fulton, surely you don't hold grudges and if you do, Sam paid me good money to take you out.

Congrats to Sam for a nice victory. Surprisingly little backstabbing during the game, in my opinion. I wrote a strategy guide one day as I was sitting around waiting for my ships to get somewhere. Not sure I want to share it with you though, cause then I'd need a new strategy.
